Welcome to another interview, where I interrogate female entrepreneurs and ask some pretty juicy questions about their businesses.
I’m so excited to introduce you to Ali Betts, a multi-passionate entrepreneur today.
The purpose of this format is to provide some unique insights into the life of inspiring, successful businesswomen, as well as a good deal of tips and tricks on how to create your own path.
Accordingly, if you consider starting your own business or need some inspiration or help for your existing company, this series is a perfect source for you.
So let’s head into the interview and get you some great inspiration form today’s guest Ali.
Ali Betts is a meditation & yoga instructor, healing & transformation coach, and author. She helps people shift their mindset to heal and align the mind, body, and soul.
She has been coaching for 10 years and teaching yoga and meditation for 7 years. There is nothing better for her than being able to see people create lasting changes in their lives and get to know themselves on a deeper level.
Why did you start your own business?
I started my business because I didn’t like the traditional therapy model for helping people. I don’t like the idea of giving a person a diagnosis that will stick with them their entire life.
I find coaching to be much more empowering and solution-focused.
I also didn’t really resonate with the traditional self-help industry either. A vast majority of the live seminars and coaching programs are not accessible to most people because of the price.
It was and is my goal to make self-help more affordable and accessible so that more people can create the transformation they desire. So I started Aligned Awakening as a way to fill that gap.
Describe your business…
I have a blog with a ton of free information, tips, and resources to help people with their mindset, self-love, self-mastery, and creating a life they want to live.
I also sell digital products, journals, books, workbooks, & guided meditations.
I create custom yoga practices and guided meditations to help support my clients & students in reaching their goals.
And I offer one on one coaching. My signature program is called BeyondSurvival and it is designed to help people overcome the things that are keeping them in survival mode so that they can take their power back and create a life they truly want to live.
Was it hard to start? How did you get the courage to do so?
It has been quite a journey! Yes, it is hard but it is much harder to not do it and wonder what could have been.
I have tried out many different niches and learned so much about myself and business along the way. As I love and acceptmyself more I find it is so much easier to show up for myself and my business.
I found the courage to start my business because I was so passionate about helping people. That courage continued to grow as my business has grown and evolved over the last 10 years. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
What has your biggest challenge?
I am multi-passionate so thinking that I needed to pick just one thing was very difficult.
What I realized a few years in was that all the things I am passionate about relating to one another. So even though they are not all in one niche they are all related to helping people connect to themselves and creating a life they love.
I would advise anyone who is wanting to start a business, not to overthink. Take action even if it’s not perfect. Action breeds clarity and from that clarity, you can take more action to help grow your business. I always tell myself done is better than perfect!
How did you tackle that challenge?
I have affirmations up in my office to remind myself not to worry about being perfect and not to overthink things. I also journal daily and that helps me to process things and get the thoughts out of my head and onto paper. So that I don’t fall into overthinking things.
I also give myself dates by which I need to have things finished by so that I can hold myself accountable. This also keeps me on track and helps me from overthinking because I have a due date.
What are your tips for women who want to start their own business?
Go for it! There is no better time than now. It has never been easier to get started, there are so many amazing free tools to start your business.
Study people who are doing what you want to be doing. What do you see working for them, what do you like, what do you dislike, what do you think you can do better or different. This is a great thing to do to be informed and know your market and compel on. Also don’t compare yourself to them, that is not fair to you at all.
Get a mentor! Learning from people who have done what you want to do is the best hack because you get to learn from their mistakes and experience. Having someone to help you and hold you accountable is so valuable.
What are your future business plans?
I will continue writing and creating products and services that help people transform their lifes. Right now I am working on creating an affordable monthly membership community.
It will have a monthly training & workbook, guided meditation, and yoga practice, and a live q&a with me where members can get support and ask any questions they have.
I would love to do live events in the future, and collaborate with other amazing business owners who are up to amazing things!
Is there something else you would like to tell the audience?
You are the answer! No one can do the work for you. You have everything you need inside of you. Everything that has happened in your life has gotten you to this point, reading this post. Trust the timing of your life, believe in your self and the ability to create the life you want. You can do it! I believe in you! <3
Don’t overthink! Take action even if it’s not perfect.
If you are multi-passionate, try to find something which allows you to combine all your passions.
