The benefits of creating a personalized morinig routine:
Before you start, let me show you a few reasons why a morning routine will highly benefit your life:
Practising self-care: Your morning routine will help you to be at peace with yourself. This will make you feel less stressed and anxious during the day.
Exercise will get the engine going and provide you with plenty of energy.
It enables you to work on your goals daily. We often set goals but struggle with scheduling time frequently to work on them. If you manage to tackle your goals early in the morning, you will be more confident throughout the day and solve problems with more ease.
Why I created a personalized morning routine
When I worked as a teacher, I struggled with waking up every morning.
I would set up my alarm early but hit snooze until I was late and had to rush. I’d always complain about waking up so early, and it cost me a tremendous amount of effort to get up at all. I tried to avoid thinking about the things I had to do this day because of how anxious it made me feel.
I knew that I had to change something and I started to get up at 5 am because I read Hal Elrod’s book called Miracle Morning. The first time in my life, I created a proper morning routine which had a fabulous impact on my days.
Being remarkably stressed at work cost me so much energy that I needed a lot of sleep, and I wasn’t able to implement my routine anymore. I fell back into my old habits of rushing into my days and feeling stressed and unhappy.
When I quit my job and begun my “soulbbatical”, I found myself in a whole new situation.
Because I didn’t have a job anymore, I could do whatever I wanted. This went on for a while, but as you can imagine, there was no productivity involved in this state. At this point, I decided to create a new morning routine for my success. I wanted to make sure that every morning includes time for myself and my goals, as well as something that set a positive vibe for the day.
As soon as I started to change my mornings, I felt more balanced, had higher energy through the day and accomplished much more. Having a personalized morning routine helped me to start every day with the right intentions.

The three steps to creating your personalized morning routine:
Step 1: Define your intention
Before you change the flow of your mornings, ask yourself the following question:
What is your intention in the first place?
If your goals are specific, your motivation to implement your routine will be significantly higher. Take your time to think about your intents and wishes. Then choose tree goals you consider as the most important ones.
Below I have listed a few inspirations for you. Of course, you can also formulate your own.
Step 2: Choose 3 habits.
Try to think of activities which are going to help you achieve your goals from step 1. Choose one activity for each goal.
Let’s say your goals are the following:
work on your dreams
have more energy
To achieve those, you might consider preparing a healthy breakfast, reading inspirational books or working on specific projects, and doing something which boosts your energy, like going for a run or drink a large glass of water.
Only choose three habits because you don’t want to overwhelm yourself with too much to do. Once you have established your morning routine, you can always incorporate some more.
If you are looking for some more activities/habits as an inspiration, you are so lucky!
As you now have decided which habits you would like to integrate into your morning routine, you need to organize them. Find out which activity you’d want to do first, second and third.
In case you have a bullet journal or something similar, I would recommend writing your new routine down. Visualization is extremely efficient. You can also design a nice poster if you don’t have a bullet journal.
Start tomorrow! Don’t wait!
Set aside between 30 minutes and two hours for your morning routine, depending on how time-consuming your activities are.
Put your mobile devices on pause during your morning routine.
Mindfulness! Focus only on what you are doing at the moment.
Keep track of how often you complete your morning routine in a journal or app.
As soon as you established your routine for at least 30 days, you can add new activities.
Keep at it and don’t give up!
Pay attention to what makes you feel good and what doesn’t. Adjust if necessary.
