Interview with Sylvia De Sonia, creative female entrepreneur, mindset coach and mother
Nowadays, being an entrepreneur is the dream of many women.
Working from home or the own office and turning their passion into a flourishing business sounds highly desirable.
But it can be tough. Especially, if other responsibilities like motherhood come into play. Often times, there are financial issues included as well.
Let’s find out how Sylvia de Sonia managed to pursue her dreams regardlessly!
She is a creative entrepreneur, mindset coach, and mother. All her life she felt like she had to choose to either be herself or do what everyone else was doing.
Thankfully her inner voice was loud and persistent. Hence she chose to live a life where she gets to show up every day, fulfilling her passion and purpose.
She currently lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota with her two children.
There she runs her art business, as well as her coaching business.
Each day, she tries to grow more for herself, her kids, and her businesses.
I asked Sylvia some questions about her business, struggles she had and what inspires her.
She also has some useful tips for everyone who’s considering to start their own business.
Why did you start your own business?
I started my art business almost by default because I knew that my creative spirit was never leaving and I believed then, and do now, that it’s possible to make a living where there is TIME for doing what you love.
I do art for me and for fun, but in order to do it more of the time I knew it also had to be more organized and systematic- so I decided to make a real go of it as a business.
Please describe your business…
My art business, Wildly & Freely Co is an online business that offers art pieces and fun custom pieces like customized birth chart paintings.
Wildly & Freely Co is built on the idea that living a life that reflects your authenticity is possible and beautiful.
What is or has been your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge! Yikes.. I don’t know if there is only one!
Time management and the technical knowledge of starting. I left a toxic and abusive marriage in 2018. Watching my children, working AND also starting my business was incredibly hard.
Also, the technicalities of starting a business, as well as learning the marketing side of business have been all challenging!
How did you tackle that challenge?
I do not know how to give up on myself blended with quite a bit of stubbornness in refusing to give up on myself because I believe wholeheartedly that if I were to try hard enough and believe in myself enough then it would work.
…and specifically just learning A LOT and becoming a student to whatever it was that I needed to understand.
What do you love the most about creating art?
Its very therapeutic to make art and I love seeing the work to come life. I give a lot of credit to what happens on the page to the universe and the energy flow.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I think a lot of it comes from the whimsical magic of being free. Imagination and the fact that anything is possible are a huge inspiration for me.
Who do you create your art for?
I create art for people who want to believe in all possibilities – the free spirits, the creatives and the heart and soul led. My art is for anyone who wants to believe in their own potential.
What are your tips for women who want to start their own business?
My tips go over two overarching perspectives – the mindset and the method.
I’d advise women to get their mindset right first, and then get the technical foundations started.
Also, to never give up! Truly believe in what you’re doing and what you want.
That brings up getting really clear on your WHY because this will continue to guide your process even when you have set backs and fails.
Is there something else you would like to say?
Thank you for allowing me this opportunity to express myself here! I appreciate it so much!
